The easy lbs are gone! Now comes the hard part! January 11 Elite Beat AgentsI never did get around to posting my rank in Elite Beat Agents.

Trainee January 10 Rebates...they're maddeningI just finished sending off a big stack (ten) of envelopes containing rebates.
I swore off most rebates not long before BestBuy did, and since then, have only bought a few items (mostly memory) from a few vendors (not Fry's, for pete's sake, don't buy anything with rebate at Fry's) that I really needed.
But last Sunday, I was going to buy some tax preparation software, and got suckered into the display of "9 things free AR (after rebate) when you buy (tax prep software)". The total at the register came to $262.91, only $21.77 of which was for the tax prep software.
Tearing through 7 software boxes for proofs-of-purchase, first page of manual, etc etc has re-convinced me that rebates are evil. Some had multiple rebates, to make them "free" and so I had to sort through which required UPC codes, which only required the official rebate receipt and which required copies, etc. It was maddening.
To top it off, the new QuickBooks accounting software I really wanted, featured a 20% rebate at Staples. So I got it, but the Staples promo site is not completely running yet. I can't send in my rebate!
And now, I have to wait "6-8 weeks" for processing.
I am resolving to not buy things with rebates anymore unless I can either get by without the rebate (I'll send it in, but the up front price is compelling), or the rebate is huge like the Peachtree Accounting rebates I get every couple of years.
Don't be sucked into "free after rebates" like I did! January 08 Step logJan 1: 2457 steps
